After all our efforts earlier in the year, and our move "back" into our lovely, newly refurbished Clubhouse, we have all earned a bit of a rest, and although the summer was busy, the autumn has been rather quiet.
The summer was busy. Cricket, of course - the senior
sides as well as our Colts and Girls enjoyed a good season. One
highlight was our "official" re-opening in June, when Alec Stewart did
the honours. Many thanks to those who helped with that event,
especially with the food and including our "DIY" bunting, which looked
wonderful!
"The Last Big Quiz" was another highlight, greatly enjoyed and very successful. Again, thanks to all those who helped. We raised £762.50 for the Clubhouse Fund.
And the Coffee Morning and Cake Sale raised £155.20 - more thanks to everyone who helped and contributed cakes.
And our green tokens donated at Waitrose New Malden provided a generous £325.
And lastly, the Cryptic Challenge made £108 - congratulations to Charlie Hutchison who won!
"The Clubhouse Fund" - as we had to start the refurbishment earlier than we would have liked in order to obtain the grant from the ECB which had to be paid out by the 31 March, we did not then have sufficient funds from the money we had raised ourselves to do everything we would have liked - so there is still a need for fundraising so we CAN do the outstanding renovations AND have money to maintain the Clubhouse regularly and keep it in good condition. It is bound to get some wear and tear but we need to keep on top of the general housekeeping jobs that need to be done. So "The Clubhouse Fund" will keep going.
The last newsletter was some time ago, and if anyone didn't receive their copy, it was because, in the interests of economy, we tried to circulate it to all cricketers and colts on training nights and match days. You will appreciate that there is a considerable cost in posting the Newsletter out to everyone.
At least everyone is now used to fundraising - aren't you!
So make sure you help us get going in the New Year..........................................
